Former pitcher for the Detroit Tigers AAA minor league baseball team, Sean Buller, was injured in 2001 before getting picked up by the majors and was told he would never pitch again. After surgery and months of physical therapy he tried out for the Boston Red Sox where he re-injured his shoulder and was again told by doctors his pitching career was over. On June 14th 2007, Sean tried out for the Long Beach Armada, an Independent Baseball team in the Golden League where other professional players like Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco, and Alex Arias have played. Today Sean is pitching again. Overcoming injury, obstacles, and medical prognosis Sean clearly knows how perseverance pays!

Choices and Consequences

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

by Success Expert Sharmen Lane

Every choice we make has a consequence. Some will be good, some bad and other indifferent. Sometimes your choices will all be awful, but you still have a choice.  Not making a choice is making a choice. C. Wright Mills said, "Freedom is, first of all, the chance to formulate the available choices, to argue over them — and then, the opportunity to choose.  Wayne Dyer says, "Be miserable. Or motivate yourself.  Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice."

Breaking Through Barriers

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

by Personal Growth Expert Sharmen Lane

Fear is the number one barrier that stops us from getting what we want. However, there are really only two types of fears. Real fears and fake fears. The saddest part is that fake fears are what hold us back far more than real ones.

What’s the difference? A real fear is something that can cause physical harm or death. A fake fear is something that only exists in your mind and can change depending on your perspective.

For example, real fears are things like Ophidiophobia or Arachnophobia which are better known as the fear of snakes or spiders. These are things that could cause you physical harm or death. That would be a real fear.

On the flip side, you have fake fears. These are things that only exist in our minds. Things like fear of failure, success, rejection, etc. These things will not cause you physical harm or death. You will not suffer any injuries and you won’t die.  You won’t end up in the hospital if you fail at something. Essentially nothing bad happens. So why is it that things like fear of failure or rejection hold us back from getting what we want?

Ego. (to learn more about the ego read The Power of Now) Ego is the reason things like failure and rejection stop us from making progress or working towards our goal. Silly if you think about it, isn’t it? Why would you not work towards something even if you might fail? So what if you fail. Failure is just a matter of perspective. In my mind there is no such thing as failure. There are only results. If I don’t get the results I’m looking for I’d bet I learned something along the way. That’s called learning and I simply will not believe that anything learned is a waste. Lessons are lessons and the important thing is to learn them.

If you find that you are not making progress or are not taking any action at all towards a goal, ask yourself what you are afraid of. No matter what the answer is, ask the next two questions. Will this cause me physical harm? Will this cause my death? Likelihood is the answer is no. So step up to the plate and swing. What do you really have to lose? Honestly, the only thing you have to lose is the opportunity to get exactly what you want.

What to do when you’re feeling blue

Monday, September 15th, 2008

By Success Expert Sharmen Lane, Motivational Speaker and Self Help Author.

We all have bad days. So I have written a little poem to pick you up when you are feeling blue.  I hope it puts a little spring in your step like it does for me.

Reach for the stars.
Divine, complete, perfect that’s what you are.

You can have what you want, sky is the limit.
Whatever it is, go out and get it.

Strive for the best, you deserve it al.l
Make the choice, rise up high, and stand tall.

You’ve got the world in the palm of your hand.
Make a difference, aim high, take a stand.

Be strong, look in the mirror and love what you see.
When you dream, dream big, be all you can be.

Put the past behind you, forget all the strife.
Now is the time, take control of your life.

Have no fear, be courageous, you can do it, have no doubt..
Today is the day, set your goals, make them count.

What is it that you want to achieve?
Trust me, its all in what you believe.

One thing to remember if you do you’ll go far.
All you must do is reach for the stars.

It’s Not Personal

Monday, September 15th, 2008

by Success Expert Sharmen Lane~ Motivational Speaker and Author

Today we are discussing a whole new way of looking at people, places and things and how to not take them personally. A great resource for this topic is the book titled "The Four Agreements"  by Don Miguel Ruiz.  As all things good, bad or indifferent have nothing to do with you. In the big scheme of things it’s rarely about us. The good we like to think are personal and that’s ok, but the bad things that don’t feel so good well wouldn’t it be nice if we could just dispose of them as if they never happened? Well, we can’t make them not happen, but we can help you change your perception so they don’t feel as bad!

Manifest Your Best

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

By Success Expert Sharmen Lane

The topic of todays show is Always do your best, but understand that your best today will be different than your best was yesterday or will be tomorrow. But always do your best. People who are successful always give everything their best effort. There’s no half way. People like Michael Jordan lived by that philosophy.  He was known for saying things like "I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don’t do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results."

If you do something with half effort you had better expect half results. You will only get out what you put in. The way to create or manifest what you want it is to give it your best every time.

A great resource to find out more is in the book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz

What You Believe, Is What You’ll Receive

Friday, September 5th, 2008

By Success Expert Sharmen Lane

You have to know what you want in order to get what you want. Do you want to be thinner, have more money, get your degree? Whatever you are aiming for, you can have and you are far more likely to obtain it, or be it or have it, if you can see it! Cut out pictures of what you want. Jim Carey did this with a check. He wrote himself a $20 Million check and just a few months later he was offered the role in “The Cable Guy” for $20 Million which is said to be a big part of the law of attraction. He believed it and he received it. Believing it is easy when you already have a picture of it as if it already exists.

4 Steps To Go From Now to WOW!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

by Success Expert Sharmen Lane

Does getting what you want have to be difficult?  Maybe.   Maybe not.  What if there is a way, a process, to help you get what you want?

I call this the power process.  It takes you from where you are to where you want to be in four simple steps.

Step One. Define your current reality.  Where are you right now? All emotion, logistics, facts and feelings, write them down.  Be specific.  For example, “I hate my life, everything about it, I hate.  I’m broke, I’m tired, I’m cranky, I’m alone and I feel lost, I feel old, I feel ugly.  I don’t know what to do I just know that this is not what I want."  Write down all the details of your life that you are currently unhappy with.

Step Two. Identify what you do want.  Keeping emotion out of it just write down all the things you want to be, do or have.  If you could write the book describing your perfect life what would it look like? What things would you have? Where would you go? What would you do?  This is your blank slate and you can draw the picture of the life you want.

Step Three.  In a one line clear, concise statement describe your life as in step two.  Keep it short, clear and to the point. Something like “I am a happy, relaxed and comfortable person earning an income of at least $10K per month, and good things simply flow to me with ease”

Step Four. Say or write “I emotionally accept and willingly allow the reality that (insert your one line description here, as in step 3).

This four step process will identify what you are unhappy with, clarify what you want in its place, make the statement to the universe and allow you to do determine if you are truly willing and ready to accept it.

I have used this process thousands of times in my life and have seen it work miracles in others lives as well.  Don’t delay, start today to go from where you are now to WoW!
